After careful consideration, I have now switched the Sunday night Buskers Ball session from the Swan to a bone fide music venue...New Bergeracs on Bank St in Bolton town centre.It was a very established venue in the late 60s (John Lee Hooker, Family, Spencer Davies and more used to play there) and its now been relaunched. Official launch is next Sunday 30th July from 4pm through to whenever and I'm looking for people to play the opening night. There should be a large audience as I'm giving it the full publicity job, but I'd like to make sure there's enough musicians etc., so if anybody is up for it, just stick your name down here. If I get names early enough, I'll make sure you get name checked in the local paper....
If its another redhot day I may hold it in the big beer garden at the back (where there's another stage) Indeed I could have two stages going at once! . In between artists I'll be playing some cool acoustic based tunes. I'm hoping to make it like a mini festival...every week !!!
It really is a cracking venue, so as I say, if you want to get in on it (and I hope you do....) Just let me know.
If it takes off (and there's no reason why it shouldn't) I hope to put on paid spots, and obviously whoever turns up to give it its opening boost will get priority for these.
Later in the year, I hope to be reviving the North West Songwriting Competition there, which I know some of you have entered in the past.
So come on, anybody help me out on this one?
PS You may even meet Danny McFly Jones if he's in town )
