THE MULES + MOCO + KAILASH
Kings Electric, Wigan, WN1
8.30pm, £3, DJ & Drink Offers
The Mules are the kind of band that you might find playing on an empty road and not giving a sixpence that no-one’s around at first before passers-by start to stop and listen, dance, then sell their souls to this band of misfits. They get on with enjoying their ramshackle rockabilly pop with extra plinks and plonks from pianos and weird whistles from the ether. Fun and quirky with fiddles and guitars, their album ‘Save Your Face’ came out on the 12th March 07 and is available from most good record shops.
Moco has been everybody’s favourite all-action live band for years now, and here they continue on with their leaning towards rock&roll super-sharp northern soul pop, with the kind of hooks that have fishermen in a frenzy cumming in their pants as another riff launches into a loop of instant pleasure. With an album rumoured for release later this year, Moco will be working up a sweat and beefing up new tunes to again cement themselves as Wigan’s premier live band.
Kailash have been around in one form or another for a few years, only formally forming last year to begin on the path to psychedelic enlightenment through the kind of powerful shoegazing rock and roll that washes over like a tsunami at times, with vocals almost like chants soothing the unknown destruction of your inner ears. They can be surprisingly melodic at times and will serve as a dominant opener for tonight.
