Lupine present: THE VON BONDIES Friday 29th February 2007 The Tavern, Mesnes St, Wigan Doors 8.00pm Tickets £8 available from: www.seetickets.com www.wegottickets.com www.ticketline.co.uk 0161 832 1111 The Tavern, Wigan February will witness a huge musical coup for the town when Detroit's The Von Bondies stop off as part of their worldwide tour promoting their new album, 'Love, Hate And Then There's You'. The Von Bondies shot to worldwide success in 2004 with their critically acclaimed album 'Pawn Shoppe Heart' They were part of the US musical invasion of the UK that included bands such as the Strokes and The White Stripes. The album spawned the classic 'C'mon C'mon' single and the band had a hugely successful NME tour of the UK with Franz Ferdinand and the Rapture. The Von Bondies were part of the same Detroit scene as the White Stripes and Jack White gave the band a helping hand getting off the ground by featuring them on the 'Sympathetic Sounds Of Detroit' album he produced in 2001. The relationship was to sour a couple of years later however when Jason Stollsteimer was viciously attacked by Jack White and hospitalised. The case gained international press coverage and Jack White later faced assault charges. The band return after a 3 year absence and their new album is due for release in early 2008. Tickets for the Wigan gig at the Tavern are strictly limited to 200 and are on sale now from the usual outlets. Support comes from highly tipped Leeds act, The Sugars.
