This is the rescheduled Bluetones gig from a couple of months ago. The delay, through radio commitments, has added to the anticipation to the return of the English darlings of the old Britpop days. There was always a pleasant and pleasing feeling when the Bluetones were releasing records; a time when bands were hopeful, charming and opinionated, unlike now where too many seem cynical, fame orientated and giving the kind of bland interviews about their 'career'. It's as though The Bluetones are a new band, a breath of fresh air, albeit a breeze scented with cigarette smoke and cotton cardigans circa 1995.
They arrive in Wigan on the back of a new album and single that displays their charm and charisma and gives old fans and new a taste of the jauntiness that made them such a well-loved and popular group ten years ago.
Support comes from The Troubadours and sixties girl group The Layne.
