My point was the awards were pointless, we all know a bands ability cannot be measured by how many mates they can get to vote for em. If there is a need ( and i don't really think there is ) to find out which bands or artistes deserve to be credited with such titles, then surely we should recognise those who have actually achieved some form of success.
I know recently TTL and Emmet have both done really well for themselves and should be congratulated, but their rewards are their achievements.The Heath were mentioned in my original post merely because they won, it wasn't intended as a personal attack.
I'm sure you are very proud of your music and i do not wish put down anyone who is talented enough to write and perform original material, BUT if you were to spend as much time crafting your songs as you did trying to get people to vote for you, then i'm sure you could achieve the recognition you crave.

This thread is hilarious. It's always the same people who can't grasp reason, too. I'm sure The Heath are the biggest band out of Tellinz in terms of local fanbase, and I'm sure you didn't have coerce those who voted for you too heavily. The article was clearly an ironic joke and obviously not a personal pop. But keep going. I could do with the laughs after seeing my workload double this morning.

Can somebody please go back and find where i actually said something that can be considered as slagging this band off.
My original post went over their heads.I apologised and Stu, Big Danny and myself had a bit of banter thats all.I've never even seen the band, i just had a little pop at the awards because i felt they were a bit disrespectful to the bands who have done really well for themselves but have received no recognition in terms of the titles printed in a newspaper.
I'm a fuckin neutral here!
Anyone who has been on this board from the beginning will know i've never slagged anyone off and have on many occasions offered support to local musicians up to the point were i have spoken to record labels and publishers on their behalf.
I've been involved in the local music scene for 20 years and i've seen alot of bands come and go, the awards were a bit of a joke in my eyes, i was'nt out to cause offence.
If anyone wants to fight me because of their insecurities thats their own poor judgement and you don't need to have a picture of me i'll meet you in the pub, happily discuss whatever it is is that i've said that upset you over a pint and if were no better off you can do your worst!
I think if you care to read back some people were quick to have a pop at me, but i never once got into the band war argument, i could have, but i never.
As far as The Heath are concerned, if you have people showing up at gigs, buying your cd's and clapping their hands after your songs then fucking good for you, thats whats it's all about!
Stop whining and keep on writing.
I only come on here because i take an interest in local music , if i piss you off, i'm sorry ( again ), if you want resort to fighting that's fucking fine by me, i've just got in from seeing Liverpool get beat by Chelsea and i'm well up for a ruck!
Apart from DLT, may i ask anyone who has any intention of replying to this post, could they please engage their brain before doing so and could some body please tell Chris how to spell dude because i piss myself everytime i read his nonchalant drivel!
There are a few in-jokes in there , i hope you can see past them because i'm getting tired of explaining myself.

the SHM awards are a joke. that's the point. the fact that so many people take seriously something i invented on a bored afternoon in November 2004 astounds me. it also makes me wonder whether i shouldn't drop "A Sniper In The Venue" from my setlist in case someone shoots The 5-0s.
