My Luminaries
Rumbling along on this tour with a new single 'Jumping The Great White' due for release at the end of it, My Luminaries arrive in Wigan again to bring their upstart Indie-Rock to the smaller venue of the Kings Electric. Their last appearance in Wigan had them firing off stop-start riffs through smoke and neon dancing lights in the main room of Club Nirvana to a large Friday night crowd. Manic and breathless yet always controlled with a lovely turn into a melodic chorus just the tip of a bridge away, they have that confidence in their own songs to just throw them out there and let people take them as they come.
They've been all over XFM and Lamacq's show and they could do great adverts for liquid amphetamines, never mind RedBull. There's a bit of everything here too. The vibrancy of Talking Heads, dynamics of Arcade Fire in places and that pop hook sensibility seen in recent years from bands like Razorlight. Sure to impress again.
"In places it's like The Arcade Fire if they’d been inspired by a series of weddings rather than funerals. Elsewhere...Pavement on amphetamines" NME

Stormy Corner
A band with two lead vocalists, who don't play any instruments? Does it work? I guess people will be able to make their own minds up when they see them live. It's a novel idea but soon forgotten once the music starts with lad's-band-indie-rock-type guitars, hints of Oasis with some strong drumming throughout. You can hear the band they want to be, a sort of fast paced blues Stones or dirty scouse Oasis. That 60's influence is present in the lyrics about leaving and loving girls and in the actual basic structures of the music; the guitars echo that beat-pop of the early 60's, clean sounding and curling nice riffs round basic chords. They've been at it a year and are keeping up appearances. Happy roads, stormy corners, peace and fucking with biting kisses.

You Remind Me Of Rasputin
A bunch of teenagers thankfully not going down the Arctic Monkeys route currently being taken by other kids in a bid to attract a girl who would otherwise ignore them. Rasputin exist on the alternate left side of current indie bands; enough cred/cool and talent and still with an ear towards a catchy tune. Laid back vocals and occasional synths with guitars changing around a strong beat remind one of We Are Scientists rather than 19th century Russian mystics. A good band to start the night off.
