Crash My Model Car
Label mates of Jim Noir on My Dad Recordings, Crash My Model Car have a new single out on Dec 4th and continue on their tour to Wigan after starting in their native Scotland. They have that leftish indie outsider pop thing going on and vocally there are some similarities to Conor Oberst whilst musically they take the best dynamics and riffs of The Pixies and smudge it with their own tics and mannerisms. 'White Light' is an impressive and likeable song that has a hundred tiny distant stars exploding to a beat, while debut ep leader 'Maybe' is a strong introduction to their sound for new fans. They are in a position to please both easy ears (they've had a song on The O.C.) and those looking for something more, something deeper. Lets hope they don't bring the bagpipes that singer Iain Morrison grew up with.

The Mod Cons
Taking their influences directly from The Jam and any other happy jangling indie band from the 90s, they strum along independently with clean vocals and appealing melodies that are easy on the ear like the way an Ocean Colour Scene single used to be. You may not sell them your soul but you may tap along to their young and animated beat.

Giant Root Attack
Witty nonsense lyrics and jack-knife chuckling rhythms that lead to psyche-out break downs complete with whirring wind noises before jumping back into a singalong with great vocals 'It's a harpoon for you if you heard from the camel again', or something along those lines. They are the kind of band you can listen to and enjoy without trying or thinking and yet the kind of band that will offer more on further investigation, much like the Beta Band of old. They're a bit special and your new favourite band.
