Wigan will witness its biggest coup of the year later this month when the Peth head to town to play a rare gig.
The band made up of actor Rhys Ifans, Super Furry Animal, Daffyd Ieuan and a whole host of others have been playing together sporadically for a couple of years but have recently played a handful of rare live appearances.
Rhys Ifans is probably most famous for his appearances in films such as Notting Hill, The Shipping News, Hannibal Rising, 51st State and Twin Town but has also appeared in a clutch of music videos, most famously, Oasis's The Importance Of Being Idle. However, he isn't your usual film start turned musician. He was originally the vocalist for the Super Furry Animals before his film career took off and forced him to give it up (and was replaced by current singer Gruff Rhys).
Their music is a psychedelic mix of everything from West Coast harmonies, glam stomping boogie to dirty rock and roll.
The gig is their only Northern gig so promises to be a packed out sweaty night. Support comes from St Helens' The Loungs and Northern Lights club night will follow. Get your tickets now!
